Based on a Polaroid photo of me with my late mother, this painting is an exploration of memory, loss and the attempt to relive moments from the past. I consciously use film devices of cropping and repetition while also restricting the paint application to the negative space. The figures are absent but we still see their faded, ghostly outlines.

A mixed media diptych that explores the relationship between the human body and medical imaging. The work on the left is based on an actual ultrasound. A photograph of that physical work is incorporated in the image on the right.
